Telescopic structure: Through the nested multi-stage sleeve design, the contracted length can be shortened to 20%-40% of the single-section cylinder, which is especially suitable for the scenarios with limited installation space (e.g., dump trucks, excavator booms).
Long stroke advantage: the extended stroke can be several times of the contracted length (e.g. 3-6 stages of expansion), realising a working range far beyond that of a single-section cylinder.

Stage by stage force optimisation: Usually the first section (the thickest section) bears the main load, and the subsequent sections are extended as required to ensure that each stage of the cylinder works under reasonable pressure.
Anti-bias load design: some models have built-in guide rings or buffer devices to reduce lateral sway when multiple sections are extended, which is suitable for aerial work (e.g. fire ladder).

Multi-stage synchronised/sequential control: Graduated and precise control can be achieved through hydraulic valves, e.g. segmented lifting of dump truck carriages to avoid sudden shocks.
Bi-directional action: some models support hydraulic actuation to extend and retract to enhance efficiency (e.g. rapid retraction and release of crane booms).
